Gruyères is where the well-known cheese Gruyere has come from and it is by far our favorite town in the canton of Fribourg.

Its castle and cheese factory, where they give demonstration on how to make Gruyere attract many tourists, too. There is also the HR Giger museum, Giger is the guy who designed the special effects for the movie Alien. I personally find it weird to have an alien museum in this medieval town, not too far from its castle that was built in the 12th century.
Oh well, I guess it’s okay.. as long as I don’t find any aliens in my Gruyere cheese! 🙂

Kit plays hockey once every year with his friends in Lucerne.. Luckily, I was able to accompany him last year and was able to take a glimpse of this famous city.

Lucerne is in the German speaking part (north-central) of Switzerland. Thanks to Kit’s ability to speak German, we never had problems communicating with people in local areas like restaurants. 🙂

Here are some of the photos:

The Chapel Bridge: built in the 14th century.

The Lion Monumentwas built to commemorate the Swiss guards who were massacred during the French revolution in the 17th century.

Pity, I did not get to see much of this beautiful city due to time constraints, but I would definitely go back to visit if
given a chance.

The hike in Lac Lioson

The lake Lioson is situated at 1850 m in the Pic Chaussy massif. It is one of the most popular destinations for hikers, fishermen and nature lovers in Switzerland. It is best to visit the place during summer.

Unlike my fiancé Kit, I really am NOT a huge fan of hiking.. But since I was intrigued by the place, I finally agreed to go hiking with my gf, Via, last autumn.

Don’t get fooled by this first photo.. We were just starting our hike! The climb up was such a pain in the butt that Via had to drag my cute a$$.. (ok, not really but almost).

The view from the top was beautiful.

The lake in autumn.. There was something about it that made me feel calm and relaxed despite the long and difficult hike.

While we were on the way back, we met some friends.. Les bouquetins or Ibex in english.

We were starving by the time we got back to the village and so we indulged ourselves in cheese fondue

And a huge plate of charcuterie or what they call Assiette Valaisanne
